Crisis Accommodation

New Hope House

New Hope House is located in the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane and provides accommodation for:

  • Those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
  • Young men aged 16 - 25
  • Level One 1 - 7 nights to assess the crisis and plan the next step (Level One to have link to 'Level One - Overnight Agreement')
  • Level Two Positive Lifestyle Choices Program - up to 3 months (Level Two to have link to 'Level Two - Positive Lifestyle Choices Program')

New Hope House is designed to be more than just a roof over a young person's head, it provides an opportunity for young people to make positive lifestyle choices. Individual case management and flexible programs are offered to residents based on key living skills.

Level One - Overnight Agreement
New Hope House offers accommodation until you have time to work out your crisis situation, from 1 to 7 days. Level One aims to provide you with:

  • Insight into where you are
  • A plan to get where you want to be
  • Information about options available within New Hope House (Level Two)
  • Support from New Hope House workers (full case plan)
  • Crisis Counselling
  • Information about other appropriate services

Level Two - Positive Lifestyle Choices Program
Level Two is for those who want help to change their life. We understand that everybody wants to have fun BUT we hope your future is more important than taking the easy way out. It is up to you to take responsibility for your life. If you are prepared to work through some of your problems, Level Two will offer you:

  • A longer term stay (up to 3 months)
  • A program aimed at living skills development
  • Weekly case management reviews
  • Counselling, if required

To stay at New Hope House longer than seven (7) days we will negotiate a plan for you to follow. This will include you working towards your goals. We will want to see you:

  • Participating in or making steps towards engaging in employment and/or training
  • Preparing and sticking to a budget that involves savings, rent and other necessities
  • Actively looking for medium to long-term accommodation
  • Attending reviews with your case worker
  • Remaining at New Hope House during the day, except when attending worker approved activities
